It has not been known for a long time that many of the things we wear, eat or drink are the result of fashion. It is what governs people's tastes and habits. Recently, for example, the Aperol Spritz has become extremely popular. However, before going to a restaurant and ordering such a drink, it is worth learning a little about it. So what is an Aperol Spritz, what is its taste, origin and, above all, how should it be served?

What is Aperol Spritz?

So where should you start? First of all, of course, you need to know what the drink is and where it comes from. What made it so popular around the world?
Not everyone may know this, but the Aperol Spritz is a drink that originated in Italy, more specifically in Venice. It was only years later that it spread and became more popular in the north of Italy and further afield in Europe. When exactly did it originate? It is relatively young, as it only appeared on the market in the 1950s. It was inspired by a blend of white wines and soda water, which was very popular in Venice.

Aperol and Prosecco - what do you need to know?

Now that you know what an Aperol Spritz is, it is worth finding out what its main ingredients are. These are, of course, the two drinks, Aperol and Prosecco.
Aperol is a sweet liqueur that is made from orange, gentian, rhubarb and an herbal extract. It is characterised by its very distinctive orange colour.
The other very important ingredient in this drink is, of course, the Prosecco. It is a sparkling wine characterised by a very delicate taste. Mostly this wine shall be served As an aperitif, with salads or seafood-based dishes.

Recipe for Aperol Spritz

Now that you know what the two main ingredients of the Aperol Spritz are, it is worth finding out what the detailed recipe is. Is it possible to make such a drink yourself at home?
As it turns out, this is possible without too many problems, as all the ingredients can be freely obtained on the market, and mixing them properly is just a matter of proportions. What do they look like?
As it turns out, you should have sparkling water in addition to the two ingredients already mentioned above, namely Aperol and Prosecco. In what proportions should they be mixed? It is assumed that the best effect will be achieved if each ingredient is added in a proportion of 1/3.
Once the three most important ingredients have been mixed together, it is recommended to use some more. An orange slice or olive works best here.

How to administer Aperol Spritz?

At the very end, of course, you need to know how to serve the Aperol Spritz, when it will be the best option and what it goes with. When and how to serve this drink?
Like any aperitif, Aperol Spritz should be served at the beginning of a meal, even before it begins. Aperol due to its sweetish taste makes food more palatable and also has an appetite-stimulating effect.
As everyone is well aware, people are commonly guided by appearance when it comes to food or drinks. It is therefore worth ensuring that the drink presents itself in a suitably visually appealing way. Large wine glasses are particularly strongly recommended in this case.
At the very end, we still need to know what this drink actually goes with. As you can easily guess, it is the perfect combination with Italian cuisine. It goes well with pasta, but also with seafood.
